Experiences of Divine Grace Among Christian Friends

Although topics of prayer, forgiveness, and gratitude have received attention in the psychology religion, there is sparse literature regarding concept grace. Thirty interviews were conducted with Friends (Quakers) Pacific Northwest, using a semi-structured interview developed for larger study how Christians from various denominations experience Four organizing themes derived questions then grounded theory was used to uncover associated subthemes within each theme. Participants emphasized loving nature God grace transforming relational that helps people move toward wholeness completeness. participants sometimes linked eternal destiny, it also being fully accepted loved by present moment. Many expressed concerns about conservative Christian perspectives seem overly focus on saved hell, instead preferring views are inclusive available all. Ongoing disciplines included nature, community relationships, creative expressions, quiet, reading sacred texts. These findings consistent historical contemporary distinctives Friends.
